September 29/30 Parent Note for Remix/Revolution

September 29th and 30th Dear Remix, Rev, & SPIN Parents, It’s baptism weekend! This means your children will go into the service with adults. This is a great opportunity to start discussions with your children about salvation. In Remix, Rev & SPIN we consistently teach kids about salvation using the ABC’s. No, not the alphabet, but these ABC’s: A – Admit that you have sin in your life. When we do things our own way instead of God’s way that is called sin and everybody does it. The punishment for sin is being separated from God forever. (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23) B – Believe that Jesus died to take the punishment for my sin. Believe that God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sin so th

September 29/30 Parent Note for Sprouts

Dear Sprouts Parent, This is our last week in our Colorific theme! It has been fun learning colors and remembering that God keeps His promises. We end our theme with the RAINBOW. The rainbow is very special because God made it to remind us that He always keeps His promises. Colors are a huge part of a preschooler’s world, and as we explore the colors of the rainbow, we will teach preschoolers that God loves them, and that He always keeps His promises. This is such an important part of the foundation we want to build for preschoolers as they grow to believe that God made them, God loves, them and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. September 22/23 Parent Note for Remix/Revolution

Hello Remix, Revolution, & SPIN Parents, This weekend we see how Nehemiah dealt with some distractions in Nehemiah 2:19-20, 4, & 6. Not everyone liked what Nehemiah was doing. He had enemies who tried to distract the people from finishing the wall. But he saw through their plan and stayed focused on the job God gave him to finish. From cleaning their rooms to finishing their homework, kids have all sorts of things that need to be done. But it often doesn’t take long for cleaning a room to become playing with the toys you’re supposed to be picking up. We hope kids will see that focusing on the task at hand is important. God has all sorts of jobs for us to do. We can trust Him to give us the f

September 22/23 Parent Note for Sprouts

Dear Sprouts Parent, This week we hear the first part of Noah’s story. We will focus on why we can believe God’s promises for us – because He loves us! And, what is the color of love? RED! Even when God’s promises something we ourselves can’t imagine, we can believe Him. Because, God always keeps His promises. With all the rain we have had over the past several months, there are times we have joked about building an ark! I know I have! But it is so wonderful to remember that God keeps His promises! A great toy to have in your home is a Noah’s ark play set. Mine has survived three kids and I’m holding onto it for future grandchildren. Here are three that are available: Playmobil Click here Fi

September 15/16 Parent Note for Remix/Revolution

Hello Remix, Revolution, & SPIN Parents, In our Bible story this weekend (Nehemiah 5:1-12), some of the Israelites were severely mistreating each other. Even though Nehemiah was in charge of rebuilding the wall, he stopped the building of the wall to confront the issue. He cared enough about the people to help them figure out a solution. When kids see people in need, we want to teach them they can take initiative to help instead of thinking it is someone else’s problem. God can use them along with the trusted adults in their life to make an impact in the lives of others. Here are some questions that can start some discussions with your child: What were some of the distractions Nehemiah faced

September 15/16 Parent Note for Sprouts

Dear Sprouts Parent, This week we continue our Colorific theme and will be focusing on the color YELLOW! We will hear of Abraham and Sarah’s story as a shining example that God keeps His promises, even when we have to wait…and wait…and wait. YELLOW is the happy color for week three because Abraham and Sarah were SO happy when they finally held that baby boy! We will learn that God keeps His promises even if we have to wait. Sometimes we have to wait for God’s perfect timing, but it’s always worth it. One of my favorite kids’ books is Brown Bear, Brown Bear. Click here for a link to Amazon. I love the repetition and way it teaches colors. I hope your family enjoys it as much as mine did! I wi

September 8/9 Parent Note for Remix/Revolution

Hello Remix, Revolution, & SPIN Parents, Our series in September is called Dirty Jobs, and we will focus on teaching children how to take initiative when necessary. We will learn from Nehemiah 2:11-18 this week and I encourage you to read through this story with your child so that they are ready and excited about the lesson this weekend! You can read it here. In our Bible story we see that Nehemiah took initiative and set out to fix the wall surrounding Jerusalem. When no one else would step up, he went straight to King Artaxerxes and took action. It’s that initiative that inspired the entire community to get involved. The bottom line we want the kids to take away is, ‘Don’t wait for someon

September 8/9 Parent Note for Sprouts

Dear Sprouts Parent, This month’s Colorific theme is going to help us teach our preschoolers that God keeps His promises. We want them to grow up knowing that God always keeps His promises! This week we will hear the thrilling story of the parting of the big, BLUE sea so Moses and his people could walk across dry land! We will learn that God’s promises are awesome. Our God is so big and so mighty that He can do anything! We have some fun activities planned that you can also do at home. We will be focusing on the color blue and putting blue cotton balls on a cookie sheet with Little People to walk through the “water.” You can also have your kids find blue things in your home then hide them fo
