July 8th & 9th Parent Note for Sprouts

July 5, 2017

This week in Sprouts we will learn how Miriam helped save her brother, Moses, when the king wanted to kill all infant boys in Israel. We will take care of baby dolls in our home living area and explore items that sink and float in our water table. We’ll try our best to keep dry, but your kids may leave us a bit wet from their exploring!

I recently read a quote from the book Parenting Beyond Your Capacity by Reggie Joiner and Carey Nieuwhof. It says, “Your role (as a parent) is not to impress your children or anyone else with your ability to parent; your role is to impress your children with the love and nature of God.” I don’t know about you, but this takes a lot of pressure off because there are days I am unable to impress anyone with anything relating to me! God…He never changes, I can learn about Him on the pages of my Bible, from the Sprouts Bible story DVD’s, from adult weekend services and even from things our grandmothers said to us!

One of the things we want to teach our kids is to love and help others and our preschoolers have a natural capacity to do this! New Hope has great opportunities to give to those in our community who are in need. We will be starting a food drive for Lorton Community Action Center, (LCAC). This year we are including Sprouts as it’s never too young to start loving those around us. Your child will receive a grocery bag that you can fill and bring back to the church July 15-23. To involve your preschooler, you may want to take them shopping with you and help you choose the food and/or you may want to choose light weight food items so they can help carry the bag to the church when you enter the building. They will be so proud of themselves, as they should be!

Be sure to check out the Kids’ Time website for the Parent Cue, memory verse and videos we will see this weekend!

Love,
