June 2/3 Parent Note for Remix/Revolution

Hi Remix, Revolution & SPIN Parents!

If you do not already know me, I am Natalie Sullivan. I have recently been added to the New Hope Staff as the Director of Elementary Ministry. I am excited to get to know you all!

This week we are continuing our series, Source Code, which teaches us all about honesty. We are taking a closer look at the connection between honesty and God’s character, as shown through God’s big story. There’s an important story about honesty throughout the book of Esther. Haman has just been promoted as the king’s most important advisor. Haman lets this go to his head and commands that everyone bow to him. But there’s one man who won’t: Mordecai. Haman is so angry that he vows to destroy not just Mordecai, but all of his people, the Jews. Little does Haman know, but Mordecai has family in high places. Queen Esther risks everything to save her people. Once her plan with Mordecai is set in motion, Haman’s dishonesty to hurt others ends up hurting himself instead.

Bottom Line: When you lie to help yourself, you hurt yourself instead. Sometimes we have a tendency to lie in order to make ourselves look good. But we can’t keep the lie for long. Eventually we’ll be found out and our lie will only hurt ourselves. The memory verse we are focusing on during this series is found in Proverbs. Proverbs 10:9 says, “Anyone who lives without blame walks safely. But anyone who takes a crooked path will get caught" (NIrV).

What's coming up?

New Hope Church and Silo Center are partnering with Nica Bikes to collect bikes in any condition on June 9th/10th. These bikes will be shipped to Nicaragua, where young members of this community are trained to repair and sell them as a small business. The profits from this small business help fund the orphanage, as well as a church in the community.

Remix and Rev is also having a celebration to kick off the summer series: Emojis, on this same weekend (June 9th/10th). We will be playing outside, so make sure you children dress appropriately!

If you have any questions, feel free to email me. I look forward to getting to know you all!

Please contact me if you have any questions.

In Him,

Natalie Sullivan
