July 14/15 Parent Note for Remix/Revolution
Dear Kids' Time Parents,
As you may know our summer series is all about Emojis. This week we will focus on the Heart Eyes Emoji. Our memory verse for the week is John 15:12 which says, “Here is my command. Love one another, just as I have loved you” (NlrV). Through this verse and the story found in Luke 10:25-37, children will learn how and why to love others.
Here are some questions you can ask your child to make this weekend's lesson stick:
Why was the Samaritan the only one who helped the man that was robbed?
Why does God want us to love everyone?
What is something you can do to show love to someone this week?
Don't forget to bring in your grocery bags for the food drive. The last day to donate is Sunday, July 15. You can bring in goods during weekend service, Camp Whatakid, or Takeover. This is a great opportunity to talk about hunger with kids, as they help us box up food to give to those in our neighborhoods and schools who are hungry.
What’s New This Summer?
Combining Remix & Revolution. Summer is a time filled with vacations, sports, camps, etc. It is very busy for us all. Due to the business of summer, we have fewer volunteers to serve. We have decided to temporarily combine Remix and Revolution. All grades Kindergarten through fifth grade will have zones in the Remix area. If you, or someone you know is interested in serving in Kids' Time, please contact Jessica Woodcock at Jessica.Woodcock@newhope.org
Key Tags. Last summer, we gave children trading cards each week. This year we are doing something similar, but with key tags. These key tags have the theme and verse of the week. If children memorize the verse of the week, they may earn an Emoji wristband the following week.
Responsive Station. We are trying something new at the end of the large group lesson where children will have the opportunity to reflect on what they’ve learned through a responsive station. During this time, a worship song will play in hopes of giving children time to respond to God in a personal way. Each child will get a card with the theme of the week and the bottom line. On this card, children will write or draw a way they plan on loving others. This responsive station is designed to challenge kids to love more!
Have a blessed week!
