September 8/9 Parent Note for Remix/Revolution
Hello Remix, Revolution, & SPIN Parents,
Our series in September is called Dirty Jobs, and we will focus on teaching children how to take initiative when necessary. We will learn from Nehemiah 2:11-18 this week and I encourage you to read through this story with your child so that they are ready and excited about the lesson this weekend! You can read it here.
In our Bible story we see that Nehemiah took initiative and set out to fix the wall surrounding Jerusalem. When no one else would step up, he went straight to King Artaxerxes and took action. It’s that initiative that inspired the entire community to get involved. The bottom line we want the kids to take away is, ‘Don’t wait for someone else to do what needs to be done.’
When kids see something that needs to be done, they might think that someone else will take care of it, but what would happen if our kids saw it was possible for them to take initiative to get it done? We want our kids to realize that when they see what needs to be done, God might be telling them they can be the one to do it, and if they can’t do it all on their own, they can ask someone they trust for help.
Here are two questions you can ask your child to further their understanding of the concept:
Was it Nehemiah’s job to rebuild the wall?
What is a job that isn’t normally ‘your job’ that you could help with this week?
Baptism: New Hope will have a baptism on September 29th and 30th. Kids will be in the service with adults during this weekend. If your child is interested in being baptized please email me ASAP. Serving Information: Due to a limited number of volunteers, we are continuing to combine Remix and Revolution in Zones during the month of September. Our goal is to open small groups in October but we need you to ‘Say Yes!’ and get involved in volunteering. You can email email@example.com if you are interested in getting involved and you can sign up for our first training event – It’s a Phase, Don’t Miss It - by clicking here.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about anything. Have a great rest of your week.
