Hello Remix, Revolution, & SPIN Parents,
In our Bible story this weekend (Nehemiah 5:1-12), some of the Israelites were severely mistreating each other. Even though Nehemiah was in charge of rebuilding the wall, he stopped the building of the wall to confront the issue. He cared enough about the people to help them figure out a solution.
When kids see people in need, we want to teach them they can take initiative to help instead of thinking it is someone else’s problem. God can use them along with the trusted adults in their life to make an impact in the lives of others.
Here are some questions that can start some discussions with your child:
What were some of the distractions Nehemiah faced and how did he avoid them?
Can you think of a time you were treated unfairly and someone showed initiative to help you? What did they do?
Walk for Water: New Hope is organizing a walk to raise money for a well in the community of Shangu and Aterait, Uganda. The women in this area must walk miles each day to a contaminated pond for their daily source of water. These women walk an average of 3.7 miles every day. As we walk during this event, we will have the opportunity to stop by four stations. Each station will teach us about the circumstances these villages experience. This event will be on September 22nd at 8:30 am. To register or donate, click here. This is a great hands-on way to get your kids involved with taking the initiative to help someone else in need!
Serving Information: Due to a limited number of volunteers, we are continuing to combine Remix and Revolution in Zones during the month of September. Our goal is to open small groups in October but we need you to ‘Say Yes!’ and get involved in volunteering. You can email email@example.com if you are interested in getting involved and you can sign up for our first training event – It’s a Phase, Don’t Miss It - by going here.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about anything. Have a great rest of your week.
