October 13/14 Parent Note for SPIN/Remix/Revolution

September 13th & 14th

Remix, Rev & SPIN Parents,

Here are some of the newest happenings in our program:

  1. Small Groups. We have officially switched back over to Small Groups. If your child is in Fourth or Fifth grade, they will meet in the Game Room for the service. If you have any questions about how small groups work, please email me! I’d love to answer them.

  2. Change 4 Change (C4C). For the next three weeks, we’re challenging the kids to collect all that spare change around the house and put that money towards something life changing. All they have to do is fill up a C4C canister with change, dollars, even checks (with your permission of course) and bring it back any Saturday or Sunday between Oct. 13th - Oct 28th. All funds collected will go towards Feed My Starving Children (FMSC). For more information about FMSC, click here. When Remix, Rev & SPIN reach the goal of $2,000 to feed 24 children for a year, then we’ll have a donut party on November 3rd and 4th!

During the month of October, we are focusing on contentment. This weekend, we look at Hebrews 13:5, which says, “Don’t be controlled by love for money. Be happy with what you have. God has said, “I will never leave you. I will never desert you,” (NIrV). Getting something new can be exciting, and even make you happy for a time. But as we know, that feeling of happiness doesn’t last forever because what we own was never meant to do that. We hope that kids leave with the idea that only God can satisfy their needs and give them joy in spite of what they do or don’t own.

Here are some questions you can ask your child after the service:

  1. Think about a toy that makes you happy. Do you think you will still think it’s fun in two years?

  2. Who can always make you happy and give you contentment no matter what age you are?

Take a look at the Parent Cue for some ways to reinforce what was taught during the service. There is a quick article about how to support and encourage other parents written by Jon Acuff that is worth taking a look at!

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to reach out!

Have a blessed week!
