November 17/18 Parent Note for SPIN/Remix/Revolution

Remix, Rev & SPIN Parents,

Here are some of the newest happenings in our program:

Donuts. Change 4 Change has ended and Remix, Rev, & SPIN did an amazing job! New Hope is so impressed with the amount of participation during this initiative. This Sunday (Nov 18th), kids will have donuts to celebrate the effort they put forth to help resolve world hunger!

A Night of Hope Gala. There is no service Saturday, November 17th.

Coat Drive. Do you have any coats at home that don’t fit anymore? I know I do! New Hope will be doing a Coat Drive this winter to share some warmth in the community. You or your child can drop those coats off in the atrium during all services until December 16th.

Holiday of Hope. Remix, Revolution, and SPIN will be collecting cookie mixes, frosting, and sprinkles as part of the church’s Holiday of Hope initiative. Holiday of Hope is designed to help families in our community who are struggling. Struggling to meet the daily needs of their family, let alone providing joy for their children for Christmas. Please bring in the items listed above between now and Sunday, December 9th, so they can be put together and delivered to the families. Thanks for helping to provide a Holiday of Hope. Questions? This weekend, kids will learn a story found in Luke 5:17- 26. We discover a paralyzed man who just happened to have some good friends. When His friends heard that Jesus was in town, they tried everything to get their friend to Jesus. In fact, as friends, they cooperated, tore a hole in a roof, and dropped their friend down in front of Jesus while He was teaching. And as a result of their faith and cooperation a miracle happened.

The bottom line is- Work together to help someone in need. When we see others with needs that seem huge and overwhelming, we too often think they’re too big for us to help and end up doing nothing. However, if we cooperate with others to meet their need, we have a better chance making a difference in their life and point them to God.

In Revolution the key question is- Who do you know that needs help? Before you can meet someone’s need, you need to see that a need exists. We hope that kids become more aware of the needs of people around them. Once they see those needs, they can cooperate with friends and trusted adults to help meet them.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you have. I’d love to hear from you!
