December 22/23 Parent Note for SPIN/Remix/Revolution
Hey Remix, Revolution, & SPIN Parents,
This weekend we are combining Remix and Revolution. All Elementary aged kids (Kindergarten-Fifth grade) will be in the Large Room for services. Instead of Small Groups, we will do Christmas Zones. When children arrive for service, they will be able to choose from 3-4 (depending on the service) Zones. The Zones are: Chill-It, Build-It, Move-It, and Create-It. Get ready for some fun holiday activities to celebrate the holiday season! Kids can come in their Santa hats, holiday sweaters, and don’t forget that Christmas cheer!
As we head into Christmas week, we head to Luke 2:8-20 and find shepherds minding their own business and watching sheep in a field. Of course, we know what happened. Angels surprised them and announced that the Savior of the world was born. The shepherds were so excited they ran to meet Jesus and spent the rest of the night spreading the good news that Jesus was born. The bottom line is- Share the good news about Jesus. This week we want kids to start thinking about how they can share the good news about Jesus. From the words they say, to the life they live, they can point people to Jesus and show God’s love to others.
Here are two questions you can ask your children on the way home from church to reinforce what was taught:
Why is it important for those who follow Jesus to tell others about Him?
How would you go about telling someone how to become a follower of Jesus?
Holiday of Hope. Remix, Rev, & SPIN participated in the Holiday of Hope initiative to serve the community and to teach children about compassion. Not all families get the privilege of doing all the extra holiday activities- decorating the tree, baking cookies, getting presents. Although these things are not what Christmas is about, these traditions are fun and bring families closer together. If your family brought in cookie baking supplies, New Hope sends a big thank you for showing compassion to those who are not as fortunate.
Coat Drive. As a church, we collected 588 coats. Together, as a church, we spread the warmth and helped others in need. This is something to be happy about! Thanks to all who participated.
New Year, New Sticker Ball! On January 1st, we will say goodbye to our friend Sticky Joe, and hello to a new sticky friend. This weekend, we are taking suggestions for a name for our 2019 sticker ball! If you won’t be here, email me with your suggestions.
Feel free to reach out if you have questions about anything. I’d love to hear from you.
